My Reflections for term 1

My Reflections for term 1

My class did a maths test and a reading test on Wednesday and we also did another maths test today.

My results in reading was 3B instead of a 4P or 4A. I am below the national standard and I hope to get to the national standard by the end of the year.. My gaps in reading are finding the main idea of the story, finding the purpose of the author and features of the character. I need to work on correct structure, understand the meaning of the text and the important information in the story. My strengths are find and discuss the purposes of the text, use important information to show understandings. I have to make an effort and take a book from school and read it with my mum or dad. I also need a comprehension sheet about the story that I read.

In my maths results I got a 4P. I want to be above the national standard. The maths test was all about number and measurement. My gaps are make sensible estimates and check how reasonable the answer is, write and solve whole number and decimal problems using addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. I have improved because my previous maths results was a 4B and know I am a 4P. My goal for next term is work harder to be a level 5. I also have to do homework so I can be a level 5.

In my second maths results I got a 4P. In this maths test it was all about statistics and geometry. My gaps is grid. My strength is symmetry. I need homework about geometry and statistics so I’m good at geometry and statistics.

My goal for next term is improving in reading. I need homework for maths and reading and I will make an effort to do it. I will be a 4A on reading and maths next term if I do my homework.

Food from around the world

Every Monday the year 7 and 8 students of Glen Innes school go to technology. The year seven’s go to ICT and the year eight’s go to food technology. I am a year 8. The dish the I liked was the burgers. The dish that I didn’t like was the chop suey with the potato salad.

Technology Toys

WALT: make a toy

Technology Toys

We learnt the mechanisms of the toys. There are only five mechanisms called wheels and axles, levers, ramps, pulley and screws and wedges. I used levers and wheels and axles. I used a bottle for the body for my cardozer. I mostly used cardboard. I cut out four circles and two arm looking things. I also used a tiny box, two sticks and four pins. The thing that I liked about my toy was the levers and how it could move up and down. The thing that I didn’t like about my toy was the wheels. After we were finished we put our toys in the library for Mr Hendricks to see. He had to find three winners. The winners were Britney, Mikayla and me.

A caring, innovative and fun learning environment

I have been at this school for 5 years. It has been a long journey. I can tell you the things I have done over the past years.

In my school we are caring all the time. Last year Mr Naidoo set up a sandwich making, breakfast and soup for the whole school. Mr Naidoo really cares about us. Mr Naidoo got the fillings for the sandwich, ingredients for the soup and cereal for our breakfast from Pak n save. The Pak n save also cares about us.

We do lots of fun stuff at my school. We have our own pool to swim in and feel refreshed. Last year we did tri kids and that was awesome. We also do GI’s got talent. On the 21 of March we had race relation at our school.
We do lots of different things at my school that lots of other schools are not doing. In September this year some of the year sevens and eights are going to sports camp. We also have netbooks.

This school has our very rugby field, cricket field, netball court and a basketball court. We also have a free running park instead of a regular park.
This school is the best school I ever went to.
