Dear Room 6

Dear Room 6

We had a very outstanding time together. Thank you for letting us play on the ukulele. I even met a friend and he was nice to me. It was my first time playing the ukulele and I had fun.

Thanks again and I hope we will meet again.

Netbook Reflection 2012

Netbook Reflection 2012

Having netbook for two term have very been interesting. Netbooks have inspired me to learn some more. I've been progressing in maths and reading. The positive thing about the netbooks is it has wireless and we can go on eduss with out going to the computer room. The negative thing about the netbook is some time the internet doesn't work. The interesting thing about the netbooks is the teachers looks at the dashboard to see our our work. My goal to reach for next year is learning my maths, reading, spelling and writing. Those four subject is my target for next year when I am year 8.

The thing I like about the netbooks is when we got the netbooks we have our own blogs and Google doc accounts. My mum looks at my blog when she comes home from work. I would like to thank my mum for paying this netbook.

Going Back In Time

Walt:write a story in sequence

Going back in time

It was Saturday and it was the biggest free fall jump. A daredevil called Jack was lifted into the atmosphere. It was the riskiest thing that anybody could think of.

Jack was lifted in a helium balloon. The balloon popped so Jack jumped. Jack went back in time. He saw that earth rearranged. Jack landed on a tree. Crack went the tree. He still survived. He became an adventurer. Dinosaurs were everywhere. He felt terrified.

“I can’t walk to the portal, I’m too terrified of the dinosaurs”.

“No I can do this, I am fearless”.

Jack walked across the dinosaurs. He picked some giant leaves and put around himself so he could  look like the dinosaurs. He stomped his feet like a real dinosaur thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump. He had a heart of a lion. When he reached the portal he felt proud of himself.

He went through the portal and landed on Mexico. He was now the bravest man on earth.
The theme of this story is to be brave.

Technology

Walt: write a narrative

Technology

On most Mondays the year seven students from room 11 and room 12 go to technology after morning tea. We go on a bus. It is at Tamaki College. Our teacher is Mr Grundy. Mr Grundy handed out some paper to everyone We were in a workshop. We used a saw to cut the wood. A try square is what we used to make our joints straight. We used a bench vice  to clamp the wood in place before cutting it with a saw.  Four people sit at each bench.Firstly, we have to plan our housing joint. Secondly, choose your best joint and draw it big on a big piece of paper. Thirdly, make your joint.

Hard materials is so exciting. I am making a rubbish truck. The part that I enjoyed the most was designing the five ideas.

A new way to learn

Dear Mum and Dad

Thank you for paying for the netbook. It is going to help with the subjects at school.
It’s going to help with my spelling. when I type a story and I get a word wrong it corrects me.
It’s going to help me with my maths. When I don’t know a maths question I can use the calculator.
It’s going to help me research. I will research the ancient Greek Olympics.
So thank you for doing this for me. I really appreciate it.

Your child Matthew
